- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates the capability of riparian buffers to effectively conserve terrestrial fauna. The study conducted a meta-analysis using the data of 397 comparisons of the abundance of species in riparian buffers sites and unharvested riparian sites. Results indicate that edge-preferring species were more abundant in riparian buffer sites than in unharvested sites and that buffer effect on the species abundance was not associated to the buffer width.
