- Title
Improved water quality can ameliorate effects of climate change on corals.
- Authors
Wooldridge, Scott A.; Done, Terence J.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates the geographic patterns of coral bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef (GBR), Australia in 1998 and 2002. The study used the Bayesian belief network (BBN) model to look into the benefits of including the dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) to explain the variances in coral bleaching of GBR. The study furnishes the first evidence that improving coral system management can increase the survivability aspects of the coral reefs to climate change.
