- Authors
HAVARD, JOHN OWEN
- Abstract
A criticism of the book "The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman" by Laurence Sterne is presented. It focuses on the political implications of the book's interlocking timeframes which challenge the Whig interpretation of history. Other topics include the significance of Shandy's birth date in relation to British politics, responses to the reign of British King George III, and the use of satire to critique the 18th century British political system.
