- Abstract
We present the results of research conducted in order to validate Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). Formulated by Lent and colleagues, this theory helps explain the vocational choices of students in relation to the link produced between different variables: self-efficacy beliefs, outcome expectations, interests and goals. Our objective was to validate the model and the relationship between these variables in the Spanish university context, using a sample of engineering students. We tested the psychometric properties of the instrument, we assessed the factor structure of the test, through the Factor program, we analyzed the internal consistency of the factors using Cronbach's alpha and, subsequently, the SCCT model was verified thtough the method of structural equation. The results confirm most of the hypotheses derived from the SCCT model, highlighting the role of self-efficacy beliefs to explain the vocational career.
