- Abstract
The article discusses how investing in non-financial companies is a viable activity for financial holding companies (FHCs) following the passage of the U.S. Volcker Rule banking regulation, focusing on America's Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the legal aspects of equity investments in non-financial companies. The U.S. Bank Holding Company Act of 1956 is mentioned, along with an FHC's merchant banking authority and investments in covered funds.
