- Title
FROM LAPLACE TO LANGLANDS VIA REPRESENTATIONS OF ORTHOGONAL GROUPS.
- Authors
Gross, Benedict H.; Reeder, Mark
- Abstract
The article aims to introduce the Langlands correspondence for reductive groups over local fields and how it can be used to study the classical problem of restricting irreducible discrete series representations from SO2n+1 to SO2n. It credits Robert Langlands for proposing a new and far-reaching connection of representation theory of Lie groups over real and p-adic fields in the 1960s.
