- Title
PUBLIC PETITIONS: A CASE STUDY OF NEW SOUTH WALES.
- Authors
Griffith, Gareth
- Abstract
The article presents a case study of the use of public petitions in engendering communication between the public, the Parliament, and the executive in New South Wales. It examines the use of public petitions and compares it against its application in Australia. It also looks into the democratic potential of petitions and its significance in strengthening community views on a certain issue. However, petitions have been criticized for its lack of follow-up to obtain redress of grievances.
