An essay is presented that discusses the role of scale in the history of photography. Topics include the relation of the size of photographs to scale, the creation of tableaus and photomurals, and political and cultural factors in the display of enlarged photographs in photomurals. The exhibition of commercial photography from advertising campaigns is noted.
