- Title
Defective Convalidation.
- Abstract
The article discusses a court case wherein a Catholic and a Presbyterian member of the Episcopalian Church got married in Episcopalian rites in the U.S. in 1956. The Catholic husband persuaded his wife to get married in Catholic rites in 1957. In 1972, the spouses separated due to the man's infidelity. The man has petitioned the tribunal in 1994 to nullify his marriage due to psychic nature on both sides and defect of convalidation of marriage. After appeals, the Tribunal of the Roman Rota ruled in 2002 that the marriage was valid, denying the petition.
