- Abstract
Discusses a study that assessed the variation in the diet of grey seals in the southwerstern North Sea, by collecting feces from Donna Nook in Lincolnshire, England in each month of 1985. Identification and measurement of the otoliths from the fecal samples to estimate the size of the fish ingested; Reduction of the size of otoliths as a result of passing through the seals' gut; Application of species-specific digestion coefficients calculated from feeding experiments on captive animals.
