- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses developments in the provision of care in pediatric intensive care units (PICU) in low and middle income countries (LMIC). Innovative strategies in LMIC include identification and affordable management of common conditions, with the emphasis often not on the ideal but on the pragmatic. Severe malnutrition, sepsis and pneumonia with fluid resuscitation have led to high mortality rates in LMIC.
