- Abstract
Entry into force of Amendments to SOLAS Convention, Chapter XI-2 and International Ship and Port Facility Security Code was initiated by the event in New York on 11 September, 2011. Member countries of the Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organisation proposed measures for protection of international maritime traffic and prevention of recurrence of similar events at sea or in the port areas, as well. The Republic of Croatia implements security measures in accordance with its obligations as the signatory of the SOLAS Convention. Security of Seaborne Ships and Port Facility Act from 2009 as adopted by the Croatian Parliament the process of conformance of the national legislation with the acquis communautaire based on Regulation (EC) No 725/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on enhancing ship and port facility security. This paper gives a critical review of the implementation of security measures in the port facilities and international maritime border crossing point of the Republic of Croatia.
