- Abstract
The aim of this study has been to make a review of research on soft tissue injuries in water polo, to compare the methodology and results obtained, to consolidate the results by establishing criteria that allow it and highlight and systematize the results obtained. General limits of the studies involved are both their small number as well as a small number of respondents (5-31) involved which have been carried out. Control groups or inter-subject control lacked. The sample has been mostly limited to top athletes and unpresentable in terms of possible generalizations. In most studies the pain has been not operationally defined. The characteristics of measuring instruments have not always been evaluated. Statistical analysis has not always been adequate to study design. Many of the conclusions adopted are in accordance with biomechanical possible and probable reasons for the formation of pathology, but not based on movement testing. Future directions for the development of the research must be related to the selection and validation of the measurement instruments and procedures in the diagnosis of sport injuries and impairments. In compliance with the goal of the paper which has been primarily oriented towards the injuries and impairments of soft tissues of top athletes, we have made a systematization based on past research as well as practical experience of official physicians of Split waterpolo clubs which by means of the named criteria have resulted into simple Table sketches (Table 8., 9.).
