- Abstract
The tourism industry is an important activity for Brazil, both economically and socially. The tourism business network consists of a complex set of elements, including relationships between the members of this chain as an essential part of its development. This study aims to analyze the relationships between the elements of the tourism business network, in order to detect the quality of tourism businesses. To achieve this goal, an exploratory study was carried out among representative entities and private companies in the tourism industry. The non-probabilistic sample was comprised of 15 interviews with members of professional associations, tour operators, hotels, travel agencies, airline companies and event promoters. The results indicate that this network is characterized by the fact that it presents some common businesses in which cooperation and integration are low and sporadic, as their strategies favor individual and short-term interests. This process is damaging for the performance and the expansion of the tourism business network as a whole.
