- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights regarding the ethnography and the cultural level of motherhood in Minangkabau Village in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The author says that "matriarchaat" is the self-identity of the Minangkabau people, in which her research focused on the social and cultural concomitants of Minangkabau matriliny. Furthermore, she mentions the birth rituals at the village which include the first bath, first feeding, as well as the naming of the baby.
