- Abstract
The article examines the genetic factors of otosclerosis and the role of bone morphogenetic proteins. A stepwise strategy was used to tag single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 13 candidate susceptibility genes. Two SNPs were identified after the study giving the conclusion that polymorphisms in the BMP2 and BMP4 genes contribute to the susceptibility to otosclerosis.
