- Abstract
A biography of French Jesuit priest François-Marie Gaillard is presented. He was born on July 22, 1853 in Dordogne, France and entered the Society of Jesus on April 19, 1873. He studied modern languages and literature at the University of Paris and Toulouse, France. Since 1895 until his death he devoted his work to the history of the Society, particularly the period of its suppression by Pope Clement VIII in 1773 until its restitution in 1814.
