The article discusses the legal and economic aspects of insider trading (IT) in America, and it mentions various IT litigation matters filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against defendants such as billionaire Mark Cuban. Calls for the U.S. Congress to reexamine the nation's IT legislation are examined, along with several incidents where the American government has failed to secure victories in IT cases. Prosecutions and U.S. federal securities laws are assessed.
