- Abstract
The article presents a discussion on the role of social network analysis, particularly ego-centric network analysis, in studies of 17th-century letters composed by Alexandre Bergeret, the valet of the ruler of the former French province known as Dauphiné. Particular emphasis is placed on the revelation of Bergeret's social network within the letters, as well as the ways in which he participated in cultural relations during the French Baroque era. The author's examination of Bergeret's network focuses on his social capital, his geographical roots ranging from Paris, France to Vienna, Austria, and his influence on his surrounding community.
