- Abstract
Introduction: RIRS has revolutionized the treatment and diagnosis of upper urinary tract calculi, tumors and renal obstruction because of its ability to obtain direct retrograde access to the ureter and kidney. Materials and Methods: A 22 year old male admitted with C/O gross hematuria without clots 3 wks, pain hypogastric region. CT Abdomen shows Intrarenal midpole, non enhancing hypodense lesion measuring 30 x 24 mm on left side. Small area of hyperdensity seen inside the lesion s/o haemorrhagic cyst /?? Mass. Angiogram: Avascular round filling defect due to cyst noted in the mid portion of left kidney which opacifies in the delayed images. calyceal diverticulum. Results: RIRS done. It shows narrow infundibulum of middle calyceal diverticulum and bleeding angiomatous lesion within it. Fulgration with infundibulotomy plus JJ stenting was done. Discussion: There are various causes of benign essential haematuria. Vascular malformations like hemangiomas (29-37%) is most common. It can present at any age. Initially treatment was nephrectomy or partial nephrectomy. Now RIRS become the diagnostic and theraupetic method of choice.
