- Title
Realms of Oblivion: The Vienna Auschwitz Trial.
- Authors
Allen, Michael Thad
- Abstract
The article focuses on the release of Fritz Ertl and Walter Dejaco in the Vienna Auschwitz Trial, both were part of a team responsible for designing and building the gas chambers of Birkenau in Poland. According to the author, the trial offers more than a window on the construction and consequences of Austrian memory. The Vienna District Court has dismissed both the feasibility and grounds for any collective Auschwitz trial and expressed reluctance to inconvenience defendants by bringing them to the capital from their native towns elsewhere.
