- Abstract
The article presents a study which determined if four size classes of Litopenaeus vannamei can utilize growth-enhancing particles suspended in pond water. Two experiments evaluated the juvenile, adult shrimp, postlarval and sub-adult shrimp. Turbidity in pond treatment tanks due to phytoplankton and suspended particles led to differences in light penetration between well and pond treatments. Results from the study showed that Litopenaeus experience enhanced growth when reared in a culture environment which contains natural productivity.
