The article disucsses the English historian of architecture and member of the Royal Society Francis Vernon's research on ancient Greek architecture during the 1670s. An overview of Vernon's travel to Greece and the Middle East, including his murder in Isfahan, Iran in 1677 and his travel journal, is provided.
