- Title
Homemaking: Radical nostalgia and the construction of a South Asian diaspora.
- Authors
Ratnam, Charishma
- Abstract
In this recent book, Anindya Raychaudhuri steps the reader through the fluid process of homemaking for the South Asian diaspora by means of a focus on nostalgia. As such, Raychaudhuri argues that such rhetoric speaks to a conservative, xenophobic, and insular "majoritarian white nostalgia" that overlooks considerations of how home and nostalgia are experienced by minority migrant groups (p. 4). In Chapter 1, Raychaudhuri analyses the legacy of Maharajah Duleep Singh, the last emperor of the Sikh nation, and the first British Sikh.
