- Abstract
The article focuses on how Western Governors University (WGU) in the U.S. assesses students' learning. It offers online degrees that are competency-based which consist of a series of assessments such as objective exams, portfolios and capstone projects. Students' knowledge and performance are evaluated by mastery of competencies. To ensure that the required competencies are relevant to students' success, the university has relied on outside experts, and appointed a panel of measurement experts.
