- Abstract
The article discusses the history of stress and its effect to one's metabolism. In the early Greek history, terms such as isonomia and disharmony were already used by Pythagoras and Alkmaeon which refer to homeostasis and distress. In a hostile environment where the ancient people live, stress response is important for their survival. With this, stress is blamed for causing metabolic, cardiovascular and other diseases in the adult population of the world.
