The article presents criticism and its response on the regulation of judges' public comments. In 2004, the Minnesota Supreme Court asked its Committee on the Code of Judicial Conduct to consider amending a canon that flatly prohibited public comment about a pending or impending proceeding in any court. The Board of judicial Standards (BJS) is known to regulate judicial speech and such restrictions have been part of Minnesota's ethical tradition.
