- Abstract
The article presents information on the Technical Specification ET 001-05 entitled "Non-Structural Cracking in Reinforced Concrete Walls", developed by the Concrete Cracking Committee of the Instituto del Cemento y del Hormigón de Chile (ICH). A distinction is made between structural and nonstructural concrete cracks. Causes of nonstructural cracking include drying shrinkage, thermal effects, and plastic shrinkage. The "Concrete International" periodical's Web site www.concreteinternational.com provides an English translation of the Technical Specification. The specification provides information regarding acceptable cracking, a cracking standard, and crack repair.
