- Abstract
Comparing findings in a large number of patients and those in the experimental animal, shows similar changes of renal function in the 1st postoperative week in urinary volume, in sodium, urea-nitrogen and creatinine concentration in urine, and urine-serum quotients for urea-nitrogen and creatinine. In animal and in man postoperative fluid and sodium chloride retention were not especially pronounced. Postoperative renal functional changes in both groups indicated they were not to be attributed to action of exogenous factors on the damaged kidney, but rather to direct influences on renal activity by operative intervention.
