- Title
‘They have been Grand-Jurymen Since Before Noah was a Sailor’: A note on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, III.ii.12–13.
- Authors
Breuer, Horst
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the theatrical production "Twelfth Night," by William Shakespeare is presented. The author suggests that dialogue in the play characterizing judgment and reason as jury members was not intended to be allegorical but to be a description of the family of the character of Fabian. He notes the use of legal terminology by Fabian in the play and suggests Fabian is depicted as a landed gentleman and possibly a justice of the peace in the play.
