- Authors
Thickstun, Margaret Olofson
- Abstract
The article presents a preface to the book "Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners," by John Bunyan. In his Preface, dedicated to those whom God hath counted him trustworthy to propagate to faith, by his Ministry in the Word, Bunyan modifies phrasing, diction and epistle format to suit his combined purposes: to comfort and encourage his own gathering, and to introduce his angelic history to the world. Bunyan begins his preface with a consecration and salutation that define his audience as his Children. In his accosting, Bunyan regards to his detention as physical separation.
