- Abstract
Among all the mural paintings made in the royal palaces in the 18th century in Spain, The Happy Union of Spain and Parma draws attention due to the exceptional nature of the subject and the family implications that acted as a link between Naples and Madrid in the choice of the decoration of the respective palaces. The decorations visualize the politics of the Bourbon marriage alliances through the allegorical language based on Cesare Ripa that was shared by the artists in the service of the king -Solimena, De Mura, Sabatini and Bayeu-, and under the common theme of conjugal unions celebrated by the god Hymenaeus.
