- Abstract
The article focuses on the findings of several research which investigate the human effects of developmental exposure to chemicals in our environment. One research shows that developmental exposures to environmental chemicals, such as hormonally active substances, may increase the incidence of reproductive abnormalities, metabolic disorders and cancer. Another study also reveals that prenatal exposure to diethylstilboestrol will cause an increased risk of vaginal, uterine and breast cancer in human beings and animal models. Furthermore, experimental studies also suggest that ionizing radiation, smoking and certain environmental chemicals may affect the health and development of children, as well as the sex ratio of the offspring.
