- Abstract
The article investigates the cloning and characterization of cell strains derived from human corneal stroma and sclera for studying diseases of the anterior segment of the eye. Observation showed the identical messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) expression in the primary cells and in the cell strains. Results revealed an increase in hyaluronan synthase 1 and 2 mRNAs via transformation of growth factor β and platelet-derived growth factor BB. Findings also indicated the differences between the hyaluronan products with and without cytokine treatment.
