- Title
THE DECEIVER DECEIVED: REREADING GENESIS 27.
- Authors
Zucker, David J.
- Abstract
The article explores a biblical narrative of Rebekah in Genesis chapter 27 of the Jewish Bible regarding her decision to ensure the continuation of the covenant. It counteracts the opinions of some critics that Rebekah recourses to duplicity and deception against Isaac for authority and explains that it was Jacob who was deluded, not his father, Isaac. It also asserts that Jacob is destined to be the third patriarch of Israel which requires betrayal of faith and the torment of deceit and exile.
