- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 25-year-old nurse in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam who developed hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), which is said to imply the presence of a Seoul virus (SEOV) strain. The patient had a 3-day history of high fever, chills, myalgia, nausea vomiting, hematuria and abdominal and lower back pain. The researchers' epidemiologic findings indicate that the source of the hantavirus infection was the patient's home, the only place where she had a history of exposure to rodents.
