- Abstract
This article, published in the journal Oceanography, discusses a case study of green infrastructure training in Delaware. The study focuses on the partnership between Delaware Sea Grant and Delaware Technical Community College to provide workforce training for students and early career professionals in the green infrastructure field. Over a four-year period, participants engaged in over 10,000 hours of training and worked on various green infrastructure projects. Preliminary data show that the program has had a positive impact in terms of increased career awareness, technical skills, and confidence in gaining meaningful employment. While many program participants have not yet graduated or finished their degree program, those who entered the workforce reported that aspects of green infrastructure were present in their broader work. The article concludes that similar workforce programs can be expected to provide training to meet the evolving demands of existing careers and future employment opportunities.
