- Title
Not dead yet. Revisiting the ‘Luxembourg Veto’ and its Foundations.
- Abstract
The article reflects on the Luxembourg Compromise of 1966 and its veto, which is an informal commitment by a limited number of European Union (EU) member states to support each other if one of them invokes a vital or fundamental interest. Topics include the consequence of the limited political and executive authority of the EU, the impact of the veto on French President Charle De Gaulle's empty chair policy, and the two developments related to the veto.
