- Abstract
Cover image: Plains zebras ( I Equus burchelli i ) graze at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Central Kenya, where they specialize on a relatively small number of plant species as well as a relatively narrow array of plant lineages - nearly exclusively members of the grass family, Poaceae. The study by Kartzinel and Pringle compared the taxonomic and phylogenetic dietary diversity of cooccurring large herbivores and found that these dimensions of dietary diversity can be decoupled: taxonomic generalists can be phylogenetic specialists, and vice versa (see pp 1482-1496).
