- Abstract
Introduction: The neurodevelopment monitoring programs in preterm (NMPP) enable the early identification of signs of neurological damage. Objectives: To describe the results of following-up NMPP, according to Denver II Development Screening Test. Methods: We analyzed 48 babies' medical records of Mário Covas Hospital in Santo André/SP. The final score of the test was classified as normal, suspicious and developmental delay. They were also analyzed risk factors for this delay. Results: Only 35 (72.9%) were evaluated by the fourth month, and only eight (16.6%) underwent follow-up until the end. Among the first (n = 35), ten (28%) showed delayed development in the first two evaluations and only five (14%) persisted in the latter. Taking into account all participants (n = 48), five (10.4%) were referred to physical therapy intervention. Among the risk factors analyzed, significant association with delay, the presence of brain injury at the transfontanelar ultrasound, birth weight? 1500 g and gestational age of 32 weeks were observed. Conclusion: We concluded that the performance profile in the Denver II Test of participants of this study is similar to that described in many publications, especially at national level.
