- Abstract
Li Da-zhao forms a unique ideology of nationalism for the rise of China. Experiencing three stages of the period during the "Yang Zhi Monthly", the period during studying in Japan and the earlier period during the New Culture Movement, his ideology of nationalism becomes mature after having accepted Marxism. His ideology of nationalism mainly includes five parts; constructing the democratic nation-state; transforming national character, criticizing national nihilism and the strengthening national self-confidence and national identity; fighting all imperialism and advocating the idea of the national self-determination and League Creed; "the Chinese nation of the proletariat". His ideology of nationalism is rational, which is closely integrated with democracy and the nationalism of cosmopolitanism. His ideology of nationalism is an important stage during the evolution of modern Chinese nationalism, which has far-reaching implications for Chinese national liberation movements.
