- Abstract
The article discusses the issue concerning the history and political debate on the development of British Columbia's river as power resources. It explores the debate on the development of a dam in the Fraser River and upper basin project in the Nechako River in 1950s. It states that the emergence of political coalitions played an important role on the postponement of the projects and were effective in forming a debate over Fraser River. It adds that political coalitions will also play a crucial role in the Peace River dam development.
