- Abstract
In the article, the authors present their study which evaluated the feasibility of a specific protocol for reducing respiratory rate in patients with COVID-19-related acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and the effect of reducing the frequency on hemodynamics, respiratory mechanics, and mechanical power. Also cited are how mechanical ventilation could promote the phenomenon called ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI), and the strategies to prevent VILI like the use of prone positioning.
