Title
VIPERIDAE.
Abstract
The article reports two cases of Gaboon Adders (Bitis gabonica) preying on Puff Adders (Bitis arietans) while in captivity at open enclosures and under semi-natural conditions. The authors describe what they witnessed and observed during the predation and notes a similarity in the two cases, that the preying happened after a parturition process. They cite that the observations are noteworthy, despite the captivity, due to the fact that the species involved are morphologically similar and paraphyletic within Bitis and due to the similarity.
