- Title
Doubts about Doubt: Honest to God Forty Years On.
- Authors
Wright, N. T.
- Abstract
The article presents alternative proposals to certain weaknesses of one of the most public religious bestsellers of the twentieth century, "Honest to God," by John A. T. Robinson. According to the author, the tragedy of the book was that it rejected supernaturalism pressed upon Christianity by the Enlightenment. The book also did not explore the ways in which the Christian Scriptures and tradition address the questions of ontology. Robinson's modernist construct looks shaky to the author especially in the postmodern dawn and in the light of mainstream Christian alternative.
