- Abstract
This article discusses the International Anarchist Congress that took place in London, England, in 1881. The author examines the role of this conference in the history of anarchism, which served to revive the beleaguered movement following the failure of the Verviers Congress of 1877. He describes the main participants of the conference, including anarchy leaders Peter Kropotkin of Russia and Errico Malatesta of Italy. The relationship between this meeting and the prevalence of violent attacks, propaganda, and attempted revolutions in the years that followed is also explored.
