- Abstract
In this article, the author makes predictions about the future of housework be looking at history and the persistence of gender hierarchy. Particular focus is given to his examination of two texts, including a series of articles from the journal "Popular Mechanics" published from between 1939 and 1999 and the novel "Looking Backward: 2000-1887," by Edward Bellamy. Additional topics discussed include how technology impacts household chores and management, sexism and prejudice in history and gender roles during the 1950s and 1960s.
