- Authors
Zisk, Nancy L.
- Abstract
The article discusses ways to protect a patient's interest in receiving care from their physicians' self-interest and role of statutes like the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in it. It examines ethical and statutory restrictions that have been imposed on physicians who own facilities or services to which they refer their patients. It infers from a research that existing disclosure requirements may do little to protect the patients and reviews potential alternatives to protect them.
