- Abstract
In this study surface roughness of different wood samples processed on planning machine has been searched. For this purpose, samples were planned at planning machine from acacia (Robinia pseudoacacia L.), pear (Pirus communis L.), chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.), oak (Quercus petrean Lieble) and cedar (Cedrus libani A. Rich) wood which grows in Turkey and surface roughneses were tested in accordance with ISO 4287 standards. The results of this study indicate that surface roughness value is the highest on oak wood and the lowest pear wood. Furthermore, radial section showed more surface roughnesses than tangential section and in the planning 2 cutters than 4 cutters.
