- Abstract
This article explores the topic of physician-assisted death and the recent changes to Oregon's Death with Dignity Act. It discusses the removal of the residency requirement for terminally ill patients seeking access to physician-assisted death in Oregon and the constitutional arguments raised in a federal lawsuit challenging this requirement. The article also examines the Supreme Court's rulings on the right to refuse medical treatment and the legality of physician-assisted death, as well as public policy arguments and public support for physician-assisted death in the United States. It concludes by discussing the future of physician-assisted death and the potential for legal challenges to residency requirements in other states.
